RIBBON

RIBBON

Ribbon is an innovative approach to a traditional material – plywood, which I bend in three directions, reinventing the methods of working with it. The organic form results from the behaviour of the material -the layers of veneer follow the natural shape of the wood grain. The object looks like it was made from a single ‘ribbon’ of plywood, but for the purposes of production it was divided into pieces. Every leg is a pressed module, three identical legs make up the seat. The profiles seek to attain a convex shape, as opposed to typical plywood products made up of flat elements; this means we can use...

OFF CENTERED

OFF CENTERED

Items from the “middle” of the table defiantly lean out over the edge of the table. This was possible to achieve by adding a counterweight in the opposite side, inserted into the plywood.

SCULPTED

SCULPTED

Useful sculpture? A seat with an extra function for exercise? Noble material? It’s difficult to classify this object. Trying to break away from the aesthetics of home exercise equipment, I searched for the simplest possible form that could evoke a home atmosphere. I used natural materials and drew inspiration from abstract modernist sculpture.

DOGE

DOGE

Hocker stool, inspired by the polish furniture from the 50’ies and the 60’ies. Selected to ‘Mlodzi na Start’ exhibition for young artists.

FOLDING LADDER

FOLDING LADDER

A Ladder which can be easily folded into a thin tube. Thanks to its simple construction, folding is fast and reliable. Product is designed for small, cramped spaces and for those professionals who must transport a ladder very often.

NORMAL CHAIR

NORMAL CHAIR

Creating things, that are simple and look „normal” always seemed to be a hard thing for me. Observing young designer’s works, I noticed that they try to amaze or surprise others by designing very unusual and even bizarre forms. How to create a good project using simple forms? How to create the „ordinary” piece of furniture? Those questions have led me to begin my design process.

WALKING ON THE MOON

WALKING ON THE MOON

A suit that will make you fly. What happens when you combine an ordinary suit with a hot-air balloon? You can fight gravity, that’s what! Our baloon-suit is made of paper and can carry about 10kg, which really makes you feel lighter.
The idea was to make long steps with it- like walking on the moon. Height: 6 m.

MUSHROOM SOFA

MUSHROOM SOFA

“Jan Lutyk and Stanisław Czarnocki came second with their design of a sofa made of balloons. Plastic pallet found in Przetwory warehouse was split into two parts and its holes were filled with triple inflated balloons making up for a sofa’s seat and backrest. The construction was esthetically pleasing, comfortable and bouncy. “The air has become a working material for designers”, the jury members praised the design.
